How I know this?
Because multiracial identities are only validated when the phenotype of a person in question is apparent.If people can’t tell your mixed basically u aren’t!

And the fact is that generally, the only way we can tell certain people are mixed is by whether or not they are said to BE mixed.
For example, again, Trinis recognize me as mixed. East Africans recognize me as specifically East African rather than from other parts of Africa. Americans know me as nigger.
Why is that? Because certain types of mixed people (mixed with WHITE, primarily) are shown around as mixed and people recognize their features as “mixed”. Specifically in America, curly hair, light skin, and eyes that aren’t brown are generally considered “mixed” features. In other areas, there are other indicators that Americans aren’t used to looking for.
Looking “monoracial” is culturally based. If I went to South Asia, I’d probably be considered monoracial. But to Trinis, that changes because there are many more mixed people and they’re used to this particular brand of mixing.

I would generally have to disagree with this statement in that many individuals who consider themselves “mixed” hardly feel validated by it or any more accepted into mainstream society’s ideals. Additionally, this disregards racial/cultural mixes between people of non-African descent. Even those who are mixed with African descent may have Hispanic, Asian, or some other non-Caucasian mix. Multiracialism is a frame of mind and anyone has a right to claim whatever culture or ethnicity they see fit.
